Greener Offices
'Greener' offices are not only more comfortable to work in, they can also deliver happier workers, better productivity, bring down sick leave and have the potential to deliver savings of 20-40 percent on energy bills.
Energy efficiency disclosure is part of a broad package of measures to make buildings more efficient being delivered under the Council of Australian Governments' National Strategy on Energy Efficiency.
What this means for commercial building owners
The new scheme aimed at commercial property comes into practice in the second half of 2010 and it will require building owners to disclose a valid Building Energy Efficiency Certificate to prospective buyers and lessees at the point of sale and lease of office space over 2,000m2 NLA. The regulations have been updated after industry consultation and re-released in Nov 2009.
